Some of the best textbook stores include PhatCampus, eCampus, BookByte, Textbooks.com and, even Amazon. While a lot of people might think Amazon would have the better deals, my research proved just the opposite. The other textbook stores tended to have lower prices on both new and used copies of textbooks. Still, none of them compared to the one I will mention below.

eCampus and BookByte offer a marketplace where individuals and independent book stores could offer their goods. Compared to eCampus’s own prices and those found at PhatCampus and Textbooks.com, there were some pretty good deals.

One thing I didn’t like about eCampus is that they dodn’t offer a list of categories. PhatCampus displays six popular categories on their homepage but includes a link to a page with over 50 categories. Textbook.com displays 15 categories on their homepage and a link to a category page. Their category list offers more options and is better organized to include sub-categories.

Of course, none of this matters much if you have a predetermined list of textbooks with title, author, publisher and ISBN numbers available. What matters most is cost and that’s why you need to buy your textbooks at eBay.

For example, Case Studies in Finance: 5th Edition by Robert F. Bruner can be found at eCampus for $162.70 new, $106.82 used and $35.53 in the marketplace. This same book at Amazon costs $127 new and starts at $54.95 used. At PhatCampus you will pay $124.50 to get the book new. Textbook.com has the textbook for $124.50 new and $99 used. BookByte sells this textbook for $115.15 new, $85.30 used and as low as $35.99 in their marketplace.

Are you ready? You can buy Case Studies in Finance at eBay for as little as $2.99. Unbelievable.

Here is another example. I found  The American System of Criminal Justice, 10th Edition with CD for $57.35 at PhatCampus and only $12.35 at eCampus. Neither Textbooks.com nor BookByte had a copy.

I found American System of Criminal Justice at eBay for only $1.99 plus shipping.

As you can see, you can find some great savings by buying textbooks at eBay. The only downside is that eBay does not carry the vast number of textbooks that some of the online stores that specialize in this area do. It’s definitely worth checking out.
